In November of 2023, I had the opportunity to do a global internship where I traveled to the Caribbean island of Nevis and worked at a non-profit small animal hospital called Nevis Animal Speak.

N.A.S. is the only small animal clinic on the island of Nevis with only one main veterinarian. It is a Nonprofit organization that was started in April of 2019 and they aim to provide at or below-cost medical care for the cats and dogs of the island. They also work hard on population and disease control on the island and Nevis is actually a rabies-free island with their help. Because they are non-profit and receive zero government or consistent funding, it is up to the local and international community to help raise money. 

N.A.S gives the same high level of medicine you would find in your local vet practice, but all medical treatments and medications at N.A.S. are at or below cost to all who use their services while upholding their mission, "No dog or cat, homed or stray, will go without necessary medical care."
